Can a Christian be under a "curse" ?
I have heard alot of "Christians" speak lately of curses. Every time they go to pray for you, they will lay hands upon you & begin to "break those "generational" curses" that they believe is the source of your trouble.They will speak things such as: If your family has had "heart trouble" for generations, you MUST have a curse upon your family generations back that causes you ( a good Christian) to have a CURSE of heart disease upon you.
I know I am about to upset some peoples "apple cart" here, but Oh well. I guess it wont be the first time.
THIS is what the BIBLE says about "CURSES" :
Galatians 3:13. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a
curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Where did "curses " begin ?
In Genesis GOD cursed the serpant,and Adam & Eve for their disobedience.
Genesis 3:13.- And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast
done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14. And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16. Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule
over thee.
17. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18. Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
This is the ONLY CURSE in the BIBLE, except for other CURSES for BREAKING certain LAWS in the OLD TESTAMENT.
And there is the reference Jesus gave when HE cursed the fig tree.
NO WHERE does it say a CHRISTIAN is still under the curse,but they are a NEW creation in Christ JESUS . ALL things are passed away, ALL things are become new.
We are no longer under any "curse" but ARE royal priesthood, a ROYAL nation, made in the image and likeness of God.
When I was pregnant I began to pray daily,for a "pain free delivery" for I was no longer "under the curse" of pain in childbearing, and I had a pain free delivery.
We serve a "GOOD GOD". He is good ALL the time.
He does not die for our sins, and then leave us under some unknown generation curse from unknown ancestors , through no fault of our own, to suffer.
That just isnt HIS way.
He was made a curse for us, so we wouldn't be.
The devil IS a LIAR.
He has NO authority over a child of God.
ALL he can do is lie to them and get them to "agree" with him thus making it come to pass, by their giving him permission " by their acceptance of the thing to happen.
Your WORDS have POWER. Power to give LIFE,or to accept death.
Jesus said HE came so we might have LIFE, and LIFE more abundantely.
The devil came to STEAL, KILL & DESTROY.
I remember when I was just a chilld. I had seen how my Grandmother suffered cause she was a diabetic. I was afraid I would grow up to be sick like her,and not be able to have ice cream !
There was a Minister close to our family, and I told him of my fears. He took me aside and told me that I needed to keep my "child like faith" and not "accept" anything the devil tried to put on me, that I didn't HAVE to have alcholism like my Father.............or diabetes like my Grandmother,or a whole list of things I had worried about in the back of my mind. He instructed me to constantly rebuke those things and not allow them to have reign in my heart or life, for just because my family did, didnt mean "I" had to, if I would only TRUST GOD and not accept them. To remember I was GOD'S CHILD before I was my family's child, and NO deadly thing shall harm me !
Jesus WAS made a CURSE for us,so we don't have to be under ANY curse any more, and we AREN'T.
It is just the devil lying to us, getting us to "receive" these things that don't belong to us.
We need to remember: WE ARE A KINGS KID !!!!!!!!!!
We don't have to pay the penalty. Jesus already paid it for us.
IT is part of our INHERITANCE !!!!!!!!
NO CURSE !!!!!
No "generational curses" can touch the Child of God !!!!
Just rebuke those things, and don't allow "people" to put them on you either!!!
Be SWEET, but be firm.
NO DEADLY THING SHALL HARM YOU !!!!!!!!!!
We ARE a NEW Creation in Christ Jesus.
