"Finding Yourself In God's Word"
by Jo Ann Kelly
"For I am the Lord, I change not..........." Malachi 3: 6
Many people spend thousands of dollars and much time each year trying
to find out "who they are" or what they can do to solve all the problems in
their lives. Counsel may be good at times if it is Christian, guided
by the Holy Spirit, and the Lord is sought first in every situation. However,
when God is left out of one's life and other things are sought as a solution,
the real heart of a person is not discovered nor is a true solution to problems
in one's life. God's Word is the only truth which can set a soul free. Freedom
is not found in all the many things of the world which people seek to solve their
problems, as true peace can only be found in the Prince of Peace.
People cannot solve our problems, only God is the "problem solver."
The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous person will accomplish much
to help solve the many problems of life. Prayer and communication
with the Father will help one discover their every need and the answers
as well as the pathway to true peace.
Who can know or understand the heart of man? Only God knows
and can reveal so that one can know not only their "real self" but
'who they are in Christ' and how they stand when judged by God's
inspired Word.
We see in God's Word. and especially in the Psalms of David. how
he expressed his feeling and thoughts to the Lord. David reflected on
the goodness and mercies of the Lord. At times his foot had almost
slipped, untll he went unto the house of the Lord and saw how the
evil doer will suffer eternal loss according to his works, but the
righteous shall flourish with eternal rewards of the Lord.
We find ourselves in the pages of God's Book and also find the solution
to life's many problems. Once we see who God wants us to be and
how we are to live, we have found the purpose of life and our true self.
Discovering who we are in Christ is the greatest discovery of all.
We are his child, redeemed by the blood, bought with a price, a child
of the King with a rich and eternal inheritance. God will take care
of His own and though the world may forsake one, the Lord will be there
and never leave or forsake His own. He is our Savior, our Healer, the Keeper of
our Hearts, our Deliverer and soon coming King of King and Lord of Lords.
Finding the Lord is finding true life and hope for every need. If you need a spiritual
lift, it can be found in Christ. He is the Living Word. Look to Jesus as there is hope
and help for all. May He be glorified for finding us at the point of our need
and bringing us into the safety of the Good Shepherd's fold. Our salvation
and God's love is the greatest gift of all.
Blessings In Christ,
