I Owe Jesus
By Rev. L.D.Reed

For the everlasting Gospel He came to preach
I Owe Jesus
For the true way of God’s righteousness, He came to teach

I Owe Jesus
For showing His love by His compassionate deeds
I Owe Jesus
For He has shown us that real love is in meeting others’ needs

I Owe Jesus
For the works of Satan He destroyed
I Owe Jesus
For greater is He that is in us, thus the enemy's power over us is made void

I Owe Jesus
For bringing my soul perfect peace
I Owe Jesus
For judgment hung over me, but His sacrifice obtained my release

I Owe Jesus
For the mocking, insults, and bruises for me He sustained
I Owe Jesus
For the cause of righteousness, even through suffering, He maintained

I Owe Jesus
For the intense, immeasurable pain for me He endured
I Owe Jesus
For the great redemption of my soul He, by grace alone, secured

I Owe Jesus
For the nails in His hands and feet He took
I Owe Jesus
For in obeying God’s will, it mattered not to Him how shameful it would look

I Owe Jesus
For dying, taking my place on the cross
I Owe Jesus
For He died so that my soul would not have to be lost

I Owe Jesus
For being buried in the grave
I Owe Jesus
For the three-day afterward, early Sunday morning greetings He gave

I Owe Jesus
For showing me that there is life after death
I Owe Jesus
For now, I have assurance that I will rise again after I close my eyes and take my last breath.

I Owe Jesus
For calling me into the Gospel ministry with Him to partake
I Owe Jesus
For He has called, chosen, and honored me to preach, teach, and suffer for His names’ sake

I Owe Jesus
For showing me the essence of pure love
I Owe Jesus
For He laid down His life, gave us precious gifts, and now leads us in a triumphal procession to God in heaven above

You must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from [your] forefathers, not with corruptible things [such as] silver and gold, But [you were purchased] with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah), like that of a [sacrificial] lamb without blemish or spot. It is true that He was chosen and foreordained (destined and foreknown for it) before the foundation of the world, but He was brought out to public view (made manifest) in these last days (at the end of the times) for the sake of you. Through Him you believe in (adhere to, rely on) God, Who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him honor and glory, so that your faith and hope are [centered and rest] in God. (1 Peter 1:18-21AMP)
