“Let Go - Let God”
by Felicha Fisher

“O LORD, You have searched me and known me.  You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.  You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.   For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.  You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.  Where can I go from Your Spirit?  Or where can I flee from Your presence?  If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
Psalm 139:1-8

As I studied and meditated on our printed scriptures, I came across something that spoke boldly to my spirit:  “God is all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful, and everywhere present.  God knows us, God is with us, and His greatest gift is to allow us to know Him.”

If God is all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful, and He is everywhere, why is it so hard for us to “let go” of the things God is trying to handle on our behalf?

Our nature is to be in control of everything that happens to us, even those things that happen to our family and friends … but God is the only one who sees the beginning, the middle, and the end.  God’s plans for His people are good!  Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you says, the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”  God desires to bless us beyond measure.

Psalm 139, written by David, is a powerful Psalm.  Notice how David opens this Psalm.  He informs the reader that the Lord has already searched him.  Who better to testify about the ‘searching of ones heart’ than David!  For it was David who God raised up as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will’ (Acts 13:22).

Each year, millions of people make New Year Resolutions.  Some want to lose weight.  Some vow to get out of debt.  Many want to stop smoking.  Others want to be more loving, more caring, and more giving.  Experts have said most New Year Resolutions are broken by January 31st, meaning, before the month is over, the resolution has been broken.  I’m not against anyone who makes New Year Resolutions, but if we would just “Let Go and Let God” have His way in our lives, any issues we are dealing with can and will be resolved.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”  God sent His Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ, to bring us into ALL truth. “When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:13).

God’s knowledge is too wonderful for us to attain.  He knows our ‘sitting down and our rising up’!  Where can we go from the Spirit of God? – Or where can we flee from His presence?  No where!

I pray that each of you will “Let Go and Let God” have His way concerning you.  As you continue to be led by the Spirit of God, I leave you with these scriptures:

“Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:  ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.  And who can proclaim as I do?  Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me, since I appointed the ancient people.  And the things that are coming and shall come, let them show these to them.  Do not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, and declared it?  You are My witnesses.  Is there a God besides Me?  Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one.’” (Isaiah 44:6-8).
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139:23-24).  “Let Go – Let God”
