"WAIT ON THE LORD"
by Minister Sherry Ivy

Sometimes when we pray about a situation God gives us an immediate answer. And then there are times when we pray He tells us to wait. Waiting is the hardest thing for us to do but God will strenghhten our hearts as we wait for the answer. “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”        (Psalm 27:14)

As Children of God we should not fret or get upset over the way evil people prospers in their wicked schemes against us.  Instead we should rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him to deal with evil people on our job or in the church.  By doing this we won’t let anger, resentment or hatred build up it us. “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” (Psalm 37:7)

Waiting upon the Lord is expecting his promise strength to help us rise above life’s distractions and difficulties. Even the strongest person get tired sometimes, but God’s power and strength never stop.  So when we feel like we can’t make another step we have to remember to call on God and He will renew our strength.  “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:29)

It is difficult to wait for God when we want change right away. But we have to be patient, and allow God to choose the best time to change our circumstances like He did Job. Then we can be like Job and say “all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.” (Job 14:14)

While we wait on the Lord we must keep His way and walk in His righteousness. If we do this God promise to exalt us to inherit the land. He also assures us that the wicked will be destroyed and we will see it. “Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.” (Psalm 37:34)

So be encouraged and always remember if we look to the Lord and wait for Him He will hear us. “Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.” (Micah 7:7)
